MSP Certification Eligibility Requirements

There are no set prerequisites for taking the MSP Foundation Certification exam in terms of eligibility. Individuals or professionals in program-related jobs can benefit from this certification to advance their careers. This includes the entire spectrum of managers who work with program teams, such as-

Managers of Programs

Senior Project Managers (SPMs)

Managers of Operations

Even program management officials and quality assurance professionals find the certification useful. However, in order to sit for the Practitioner exam, candidates must first pass the Foundation level exam.

Before taking the certification examination, another important step toward ensuring one’s eligibility for this certification is to agree to the terms and conditions as outlined by the accredited organization. After passing the practitioner-level exam, the candidate can sit for the Advanced Practitioner exam.

The MSP certification is divided into three levels. Level 1 is the Foundation exam, which thoroughly assesses an individual’s understanding of the framework that makes up ‘Managing Successful Programs.’ The exam is a multiple-choice questionnaire designed to assess your overall understanding of the various aspects.

Professionals can apply for the Practitioner Level after passing the Foundation Level. This level’s multiple-choice questions are more likely to be scenario-based. This is an open book exam because the goal of this level in the certification procedure is to assess the individual’s understanding of the various MSP concepts. The Advanced Practitioner level is the final step in the certification process. Unlike the first two levels, this one is essay-based and is designed to assess the candidate’s ability to apply concepts in a given scenario.
